Saturday Morning

Hello Internet!

Once again, I have been falling behind on my blog posting. I will try to empty my little walnut brain today to entertain you enough to carry yuo through the weekend.

Yesterday was the Statcan Men's hockey team golf tournament. It was held at Emerald Links near Manotick. For my money, that is the best course in the Ottawa area. The greens were lush, and the fairways were impeccable! I started the round off ok, but then my playing parters tried to get me drunk so my score would balloon. They were correct, my score went up on the 3rd hole, right through to the 10th hole when I finally sobered up. I finished with a solid 83, which I will take any day of the week.

After the golf match I went to pick up Erin G at the bus station. We went to Nicastro's or Ventuno (They have 2 names) on Wellington Street for a nice dinner. Purdy and I walked by there on Tuesday and read the menu, it looked pretty good so I figured it was worth a shot. Erin G had some type of tomato sauce based piazza, and I had a smoked salmon piazza, it was very good. To finish off this fine meal, I warshed it down with an espresso. I had never tried one of these greasy little dynamos before and let me tell you, your heart rate goes up to about 200 beats a minute. While Purdy is wasting his time before baseball drinking knock-off Red Bulls, I will be sipping on an espresso to get jacked up for the big game.

Today is day 2 of the Mechanicsville music festival, so we might head down there later to drink from the beer tents and take in some of the local flavour.

Y.E.P. 3, Other Team 6

Last night my softball team had to take on the best team in the Statscan mixed softball league, but we were up to the task and played a tight defensive game holding them to just 6 runs. Our bats were cold, and if we had a few more solid hits...who knows what might have happened?

I wont mention the other team's name, due to possibly slander or copyright issues. If you are interested in finding out who the top team is, just go to the Statcan softball web page.

The team we played takes mixed softball pretty seriously...stat sheets, 25 player team...tons of batting gloves and wristbands, it was good to see our rag tag bunch of players take them to the limit!

I have no pictures of this incredible game, which is too bad. Next game I will have to take the camera out there to capture some of the high stakes action of 3-pitch softball. Although, still pictures do not really do this sport justice. To really experience the speed and athleticism that is mixed 3-pitch softball, you must come out to the sunny ballyard to watch it for your self!

Update:

I found this webpage that one of the opposing players has, he loves softball!
