Y.E.P. 3, Other Team 6

Last night my softball team had to take on the best team in the Statscan mixed softball league, but we were up to the task and played a tight defensive game holding them to just 6 runs. Our bats were cold, and if we had a few more solid hits...who knows what might have happened?

I wont mention the other team's name, due to possibly slander or copyright issues. If you are interested in finding out who the top team is, just go to the Statcan softball web page.

The team we played takes mixed softball pretty seriously...stat sheets, 25 player team...tons of batting gloves and wristbands, it was good to see our rag tag bunch of players take them to the limit!

I have no pictures of this incredible game, which is too bad. Next game I will have to take the camera out there to capture some of the high stakes action of 3-pitch softball. Although, still pictures do not really do this sport justice. To really experience the speed and athleticism that is mixed 3-pitch softball, you must come out to the sunny ballyard to watch it for your self!

Update:

I found this webpage that one of the opposing players has, he loves softball!

Mullins, you forgot to mention how you slugged a ball to right center field your first at bat and dug in for another triple! Mullins is a beauty!

It was nice to charlie brown that centre field "softball guy". Maybe if he had another set of sweat bands, and bigger flip-up sunglasses, he would have caught it!

I can’t wait for that first at bat. I’m bringing a tape deck to the game, so that I can blast The Scorpions when I walk to the plate. Nothing gets me fired up to play ball more than The Scorpions. Except maybe AC/DC, but I save that for the playoffs.

I feel sorry for the other teams. They have no idea what I’m about to unleash on them. Actually, I don’t feel sorry for them. You think that anyone felt sorry for me when that bastard coach cut me from the 8th grade baseball team? You think Babe Ruth or Dave Kingman felt sorry for the other team when they took them deep?
