Pushing 30

Hello Mechanicsville, Hintonburg and surrounding areas!

Today was my birthday, and it was a fantastic one! Neb bought me a Big Mac meal from the McDonald's at Holland Cross and it was delicious! For the rest of my birthday, I got to head to the Vehicle Licensing place to renew both my licence card, and my vehicle registration. It was a great $155 birthday gift that I got to give to the MTO. Its all worthwhile I guess, I dont know what I would do without my fossil fuel burning, pollution spewing, tire squealing transportation.

Last night I had my first party at the cottage, and let me tell you...it was off the hook! Purdy and I took off from work at 4pm and made it into downtown Poltimore around 5pm. First stop was MacLellan's for some groceries. Since the Doyman's were bringing the hangburgers, and the Geofforelli's were bringing the hot dags, Purdy and I decided to make a salad. Luckily, MacLellan's had everything we needed (and at rock bottom prices!). I also picked up a 6-pack of "Le Gros Cochon" beer, it was $7.50 for the 6 of them. It was incredible! I liked it so much, I drank one, and then immediately switched back to MacLays.

We got back to the cottage around 5:30, and started to sawr some wood. We found some dead trees lying in the back 40, so we decided to sawr one of them up. It was pretty hard, and I can definitely see why the chainsaw was invented. However, I am pretty confident that if we had a chainsaw at our disposal last night, I would be typing this blog entry by mashing the keyboard with the stumps that were left of my arms.

The party was fun, we swam at 6, had a BBQ at 7, soccer shootout at 8:30, and a bonfire at 9:30. The carload went back into town around 11pm, leaving Purdy and I there to guard the fort. We heard a coyote howling in the night, and I got scared...but Purdy had his buck knife there in case the little vicious fella tried to attack us.

I set the ol' alarm for 6:30am, and jumped into the lake at 6:45am for a refreshing shower. We left Denholm around 7:15am and I was in my office at 8:15, so it was not a bad commute at all. I think I am going to stay up there every wednesday for the rest of the summer...unless I hear that coyote again, then I will probably come back to Mechanicsville and hide out.

Well, I better get back to my birthday chores...aka packing up. This weeking is the Thurlow Thunder alumni softball game. I played slo-pitch with a bunch of fellas from Belleville back in 1997-2000, and we had a good run for a little while. It will be fun to try to knock some dingers once again.
